The Fit Calculator (Data-Driven Confirmation)

This path accounts for the foot's unique volume, combined with your linear length, to provide a tailored sizing suggestion. Turriff uses measurements in millimetres for maximum precision. (see below for measuring instructions.)

To get the most out of the calculator, provide as much information as you can.

You will need:

  • Tools: A soft measuring tape, or a piece of string which you can mark and then lay flat against a ruler to find the measurement.

  • Foot Length (mm): Measured from the wall to the tip of the longest toe.

  • Ball Circumference: Measure the ball of the foot at the widest point of the forefoot where the foot flexes when taking a step.

  • Waist Circumference: Measured around the centre of the arch. Follow the bones of the big toe up the foot until reaching a small protruding bump; this lines up approximately with the centre of the arch.

  • Instep Circumference: Measured further back up the foot, away from the big toe, at the point where the foot and leg join. Capture the volume of your mid-foot profile by wrapping the measuring tape around the top of the foot where the leg and foot join, bringing the tape vertically down under the back section of the arch.

  • Foot Bottom Width (Optional): Measured across the foot trace at the ball of the foot. This allows Turriff to see how the foot fits when standing in comparison to the insole.

Fit Disclaimer

Sizing is personal. No two feet are identical, and no one fits a standard size perfectly. This guide and calculator are professional resources to help achieve the best possible fit in standard Turriff sizing.

If you feel you have extra-wide or hard-to-fit feet and require extra attention. Or if a more personalized recommendation is preferred, please reach out. The Turriff sizing specialist is available to review measurements and help you choose the best possible fit.

Note on Measurements: The lengths listed in the table above represent the internal insole length of the shoe (the last length), not the size your foot should be. Because Turriff asks you to measure your foot with your heel against a wall, your measurement includes the curve of your heel. To achieve a natural, functional fit with enough room for your toes to splay, your wall measurement must be shorter than the Last/ internal shoe Length.

For the ideal Foot-to-Last Gap, when comparing your heel-to-wall measurement to the Last shoe Length chart, use this guide to find your preferred fit:

  • The Turriff Sweet Spot (4mm to 7mm smaller than the Last): This is our recommended fit. If your wall measurement is roughly 4mm to 7mm shorter than the listed Last/ internal shoe Length, you will achieve a secure, locked-in midfoot with the perfect amount of functional space for your toes to naturally splay and expand as you walk.

  • The Relaxed Fit (8mm to 11mm smaller than the Last): If you prefer a looser, "slipper-like" fit, or if you regularly wear very thick wool hiking socks, aim for a Last Length that is 8mm to 11mm longer than your wall measurement.

  • Too Small (0mm to 3mm smaller than the Last): If your wall measurement is within 3mm of the Last Length, the shoe will be too short. Your toes will likely hit the front of the boot, especially when walking downhill. We highly recommend sizing up.
